Tap in: Pa Salieu’s “Afrikan Rebel” EP

Pa Salieu Gaye is a Gambian-British artiste who had an industry breakout with his single “Frontline” in January 2020. He just recently released a 3-track EP titled “Afrikan Rebel” which has a blending element of the occasional Grime, Alté music, and Amapiano in which no doubt Pa Salieu delivered well.

Tay lwar’s delicate and celestial vocals accompanied with some violin ushers you in on the first track “Shining” which also features Zlatan who doesn’t hesitate to hit us with his lamba and fire verse. This is one of the collaborations that took us by surprise and listening to the song, you would agree that it was a genius move.

Next comes the foot-tapping and amapiano track “Style And Fashion” featuring Obongjayar which is a phenomenal artist just like Pa. This is no doubt the favorite off this EP as it has everything needed to rock the club and dancefloor with its fast-paced beats.

Coming last – but not the least – is the short and smooth track “Lit” where Pa Salieu hit the Ghanaian drill with heavy basslines, hardcore beats, and harmonious vocals for the chorus.

In this project, each song prepares you for the next. Evidently, Pa Salieu is heavy on respecting heritage and culture as he tells us in a press release on his Instagram page.

“My Afrikan Rebel series is a movement which I hope can allow me to connect with others with a similar mindset and gives a platform for me to experiment with influences and inspirations from my culture and others from the great continent of Africa” “Fundamentally, Afrikan Rebel is about being proud and loud about where you come from. For me, that’s Africa”.
